Creditors taking money out of your earnings can come as an unwanted surprise and often leave you struggling to pay your bills. When this happens, they are permitted to take up to 25% of your income through wage garnishments.
Filing bankruptcy will end the wage garnishment automatically. Our office will also send notice to the Sheriff’s office informing them that a bankruptcy has been filed and no further garnishments are permitted.
Alternatively, you can decide to fight the judgment that lead to the garnishment, however, in our experience they are rarely successful.
